What To Do In Salt Lake (“we,” “us,” the “Site”) is a small, one-person event guide. This page explains what we collect, why, and what choices you have. If anything here is unclear, get in touch.

What we collect

  • Account info. If you create an account, we store your email and a hashed password. If you set a display name or save favorites, we store those too.
  • Messages you send. The contact and event-suggestion forms collect what you type, plus your email if you provide one.
  • Usage data. Standard web analytics — pages viewed, referring site, approximate location from IP, device and browser type, and similar.
  • Cookies. A session cookie for sign-in, and analytics cookies (see the tools below). No advertising cookies.

Why we collect it

  • To run the site — sign-in, favorites, email verification, and password resets.
  • To reply to messages, tips, and event suggestions.
  • To understand which events and pages people find useful, so we can do more of that.
  • To prevent spam and abuse on forms.

We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. There's no ad network on the site.

Tools we use

  • PostHog — product analytics and error tracking. Requests are proxied through our domain.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile — a CAPTCHA-like check on forms to keep bots out.
  • Google Places — venue addresses and map data shown alongside events.
  • Amazon Web Services — hosting, image storage, and outbound email.

Your choices

  • You can view and edit your profile from your account page.
  • You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time — email us and we'll take care of it.
  • You can block analytics via your browser's Do Not Track or tracker-blocking extension. The site works fine either way.

Children

The site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we'll remove the account.

Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of the page. Material changes will be announced on the site.
